weekend movies

well this is my first blog, I decided to review movies ... see I am a single parent and I work 16 hour days.  So time of the essence for my and my two boys ... we watch one movie a week and it has to be a great one.

My eldest likes comedies (into Kevin Smith now), while my little one is outgrowing animated movies and likes horror (wants to impress us) and comedies too (Adam Sandler and the fat guy from  King of Queens.

I like everything good, my top movies are Shawshank Redemption (drama), Raising Arizona (comedy), Il Postino (foreign), Star Trek (I am a Star Trek freak), the usual suspects (thriller), and a lot more ...

I will discuss the King Speech.  Why didn't the King use headphones with music to give the speech, it worked for him!!! I thought the acting was exceptional, best actor should have been Geoffry Rush, he was awesome as always.  I thought the movie had the right pace, that's important for me when I watch a movie, I enjoy a movie as if I am listening to music or visiting a museum, or even relationships ... It is all about pace.

The movie took time to let us know and understand the players, what motivated them, why should I care if he gave a good speech or not, and I did partly out of sympathy however it was mostly because the historical context of the speech ... off-course they lost my kids 15 minutes into the movie, my eldest fell asleep while the Adam (my 11 year old) was breaking ice cubes and wooden structure with angry birds on his iPhone.

Overall, I thought it was a good movie, your kids will hate it, but you may enjoy it.

  1. Brilliantly refreshing! Not a big fan of critics here, but I love your approach!
